Derailleur hangers are frame-specific, not universal. You must visually compare your current hanger to the images of the #662 or check your bike manufacturer's compatibility list to ensure the bolt pattern and shape match exactly.

The hanger is designed as a sacrificial part. Aluminum is chosen because it is strong enough to hold the derailleur in place during normal riding, but soft enough to bend or break during an impact, which prevents that force from damaging your bike's frame.

While it is sometimes possible to straighten a slightly bent hanger, doing so often weakens the metal, making it prone to snapping later. Replacing it with a new, precision-machined part is the only way to guarantee perfect alignment and reliable shifting.

You will typically need a set of metric Allen keys to remove the mounting bolts from your old hanger and secure the new one. It is also good practice to check your derailleur alignment with a dedicated hanger alignment gauge after installation.
