Cannondale Topstone Carbon 3

Kingpin is a proprietary rear suspension system built into the carbon frame that allows the seat tube and rear stays to flex. It provides up to 30mm of travel, which effectively smooths out chatter and bumps on rough terrain without the added weight or maintenance of a traditional shock.

The Topstone Carbon 3 is a versatile all-rounder, but it leans slightly toward adventure and long-distance riding. Its stable geometry, ample mounting points for gear, and vibration-damping suspension make it exceptionally comfortable for multi-day trips and rougher terrain, though it remains nimble enough for spirited gravel rides.

The 650b wheels paired with 47mm tires offer a smaller overall diameter, which creates a more nimble, responsive feel in technical sections. The wider tires provide a larger contact patch and more air volume, allowing you to run lower pressures for increased traction and comfort on loose, rocky surfaces.

Being SmartSense ready means the frame is pre-wired and designed to easily integrate Cannondale's SmartSense ecosystem, which includes intelligent lights and rear-facing radar. You can add these components later to enhance your visibility and situational awareness without dealing with messy external wiring.

The bike comes stock with 47mm tires, which is quite generous for a gravel bike. While there is some clearance for slight variations, you should check the specific frame clearance guidelines before upsizing, as the Kingpin system and chainstay design have physical limits.

The Shimano GRX 800/600 11-speed drivetrain is specifically engineered for gravel, featuring a clutch-equipped rear derailleur that prevents chain slap and drops on bumpy descents. Its gear range is optimized for off-road use, providing the low gearing you need to maintain traction and cadence on steep, loose climbs.
