Trail Pro Sleeping Pad

An R-value of 4.4 indicates this pad is well-suited for three-season use, meaning it provides enough insulation for spring, summer, and fall camping. It will keep you comfortable in temperatures down to freezing, but it is not intended for deep winter expeditions.

The pad uses open-cell foam that expands when the valve is opened, drawing air inside automatically. While it will inflate most of the way on its own, you will likely need to add a few breaths of air at the end to reach your preferred firmness.

While the mummy shape tapers at the feet to save weight and bulk, the 3-inch thickness provides enough loft to keep your hips and shoulders off the ground. If you are a restless sleeper who moves a lot, you may prefer a rectangular pad, but most side sleepers find the Trail Pro's support sufficient.

The WingLock valve is designed for speed and ease of use. It features a one-way check valve that prevents air from escaping while you inflate, and it opens wide to allow air to dump out rapidly when you are ready to pack up.

When packed, the regular size measures 11 by 8.8 inches. It is compact for a self-inflating pad, but it is bulkier than ultralight air-only pads, so you should plan to strap it to the outside of your pack or dedicate a significant portion of your main compartment to it.
