Yes, the X01 Eagle AXS derailleur is compatible with existing Eagle 12-speed cassettes and chains. However, you will need to purchase an AXS controller separately to pair with the derailleur, as it does not use a traditional cable shifter.

If the derailleur takes an impact, the internal motor clutch instantly disengages, allowing the derailleur to move freely and absorb the force. Once the impact passes, it automatically resets to its original position without you needing to do anything.

It is fully sealed against water and dust to an IP69K rating. You can ride through mud, rain, and stream crossings without worrying about the electronics failing.
