While it is designed for competitive IPSC shooting, its gas blowback system is straightforward to operate. However, because it features a specialized split-slide design and upgraded internal components, it is better suited for players who are comfortable with basic airsoft maintenance and want a platform ready for customization.

The frame comes pre-tapped to accept most standard IPSC-style optic mounts. This allows you to easily attach red dot sights or other competition optics without needing to modify the frame yourself.

The split slide design reduces the reciprocating mass of the pistol. By moving less weight during each shot, the HX22 achieves a faster cyclic rate and reduced felt recoil, which is critical for quick follow-up shots in competition.

The HX22 is designed to run on standard Green Gas. Given its upgraded recoil spring and polished internals, it performs reliably with standard pressures, though you should ensure the magazine seals are kept lubricated with silicone oil.

While it is optimized for IPSC competition, it functions perfectly well as a sidearm in standard field play. Keep in mind that the fiber optic and ghost ring sights are optimized for precision target acquisition rather than rapid, instinctive aiming in low-light environments.

The short stroke kit limits the travel distance of the slide, which decreases the time it takes for the slide to cycle back and forth. This results in a snappier trigger response and allows for faster shot-to-shot times.
