We generally recommend using brass nipples for e-bike applications due to the increased torque and stress placed on the wheelset. While these aluminum nipples are lightweight and high-performing, they are best suited for standard mountain or road bike builds where weight savings are prioritized over extreme durability.

The spherical contact surface allows the nipple to pivot slightly within the rim hole. This ensures the nipple sits flush against the rim, preventing unnecessary bending stress on the spoke and creating a more stable, durable connection.

Yes, they are compatible with standard square spoke wrenches. However, for the best experience and to fully utilize the Pro Head design, we recommend using a dedicated DT Swiss Torx tool for the final stages of your wheel build.

Aluminum nipples are significantly lighter than brass, which reduces rotational mass at the rim and can make the wheel feel more responsive. They are an excellent choice for performance-oriented builds where every gram counts, provided you are comfortable with the slightly lower fatigue resistance compared to brass.
