Film Photography Project Positive Film

This film is specifically engineered as a reversal film that reacts to standard black and white development processes to create a positive image directly on the film strip. You do not need specialized reversal kits or complex chemical processes to achieve the final positive result.

Orthochromatic film is less sensitive to the red end of the light spectrum, which gives it a unique tonal range compared to modern panchromatic films. It often renders skin tones and landscapes with a distinct, slightly darker, and more dramatic contrast that feels classic and moody.

Because of the extremely low ISO, you will need a significant amount of light, such as bright direct sunlight or a studio setup with powerful strobes. It is not suitable for handheld shooting in typical indoor or overcast conditions, so a sturdy tripod is essential.

Treat the ISO 0.8 rating as a strict baseline and meter carefully for your highlights. Given the low-contrast nature of the emulsion, it is better to err on the side of overexposure rather than underexposure to ensure you capture enough detail in the shadows.

This is a specialty film that requires a high level of patience and technical control, so it is better suited for photographers who are already comfortable with manual exposure settings. If you are new to film, it is recommended to master standard ISO 100 or 400 films before experimenting with this low-speed emulsion.
