Gaggia Classic Portafilter

This portafilter is designed for Gaggia semi-automatic machines that utilize a 58mm group head. It is compatible with most standard Gaggia models, including the Classic and Classic Pro, but it will not fit Gaggia machines that use pressurized 53mm portafilters.

A bottomless portafilter exposes the underside of your filter basket, giving you a direct, real-time view of your espresso extraction. This visual feedback is essential for diagnosing issues like channeling or uneven distribution, helping you refine your puck preparation technique.

This product includes the portafilter handle and body, but it is designed to be used with standard 58mm non-pressurized baskets. You can typically reuse the basket that came with your machine if it is a standard non-pressurized version.

While the portafilter itself doesn't change the flavor profile, the improved technique you develop by using it does. By identifying and correcting extraction flaws, you will naturally achieve a more balanced, richer espresso with better crema.

To keep the finish in good condition, rinse the portafilter with hot water after each use and wipe it dry. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemical cleaners, as these can damage the chrome plating over time.
