Holmes Seed Company Caesar

While it is classified as a romaine, Giant Caesar offers a unique, buttery flavor profile more commonly associated with butterhead varieties. Its leaves are also broader and more tender, making them easier to harvest without bruising.

Giant Caesar is specifically bred for heat resistance. It maintains its color and sweet flavor better than many other romaine varieties when temperatures rise, though it still performs best with consistent moisture.

These are untreated, open-pollinated heirloom seeds. They have not been coated with fungicides or chemical treatments.

For optimal growth, space your plants 6 to 15 inches apart within the row, with 12 to 24 inches between rows. This spacing ensures adequate airflow and room for the large leaves to develop fully.

Plant the seeds at a shallow depth of 1/8-inch. Because lettuce seeds require light to germinate, covering them too deeply can prevent them from sprouting.

You can expect to harvest your Giant Caesar lettuce in approximately 70 to 80 days after planting. As a loose-leaf variety, you can also harvest individual outer leaves earlier if you prefer a 'cut-and-come-again' approach.
