To create a solid privacy hedge, space your Emerald Green Arborvitae approximately 3 feet apart. This allows the trees to grow together and form a dense, continuous wall while still providing enough airflow for each plant.

While these trees are classified for full sun, they can tolerate partial shade. However, keep in mind that they will grow more slowly and may lose some of their signature density if they do not receive enough direct sunlight.

One of the best features of the Emerald Green Arborvitae is its naturally dense, conical shape, which requires very little pruning. You may occasionally trim them to maintain a specific height or remove dead branches, but they generally hold their form on their own.

While no plant is completely deer-proof, Emerald Green Arborvitae are generally less palatable to deer than other evergreen varieties. However, if you live in an area with a high deer population, you may still need to use protective netting or repellents, especially while the trees are young.

Newly planted trees require consistent moisture to establish their root systems. Water them deeply once or twice a week during the first growing season, ensuring the soil remains moist but not waterlogged.
