ELAC Debut Reference Bookshelf Speakers

The DBR62s have a sensitivity of 87dB and a nominal impedance of 6 Ohms, making them relatively easy to drive. They can handle up to 120 watts of power, so a standard integrated amplifier or receiver with decent current will perform well.

The Reference line features significant cabinet upgrades, including internal bracing to reduce vibration and a dual-flared slot port for cleaner bass. They also utilize a new waveguide for the tweeter and a cast chassis basket for the woofer, resulting in a more refined and detailed sound profile.

While they offer impressive bass extension down to 44Hz, they are physically substantial at over 14 inches deep. They work best on dedicated speaker stands in a medium-sized room rather than cramped desktop spaces.

The grills are designed to be acoustically transparent, so you can leave them on without degrading the sound quality. They are magnetic, making them very easy to remove if you prefer the look of the exposed aramid fiber woofer.

Because the DBR62 uses a front-firing dual-flared slot port, it is much more forgiving of placement than rear-ported speakers. This design minimizes port noise and allows for more flexibility when positioning them near a wall or in a bookshelf.

Aramid fiber is exceptionally strong and lightweight, which allows the woofer to maintain its shape during high-excursion movements. This results in better damping and a more accurate, distortion-free midrange and bass response.
