Oriental Artisan Sancai Gaiwan

The Sancai structure—consisting of the lid, bowl, and saucer—is designed for the Gongfu tea method. The lid allows you to control the infusion and strain leaves, while the saucer protects your fingers from heat and catches any drips during the pour.

The Flint-Red oxidation is a decorative firing technique that creates a rustic, antique finish on the exterior. While it adds a unique aesthetic, the interior remains dense, high-quality porcelain that effectively retains heat for brewing complex teas.

Because each piece is hand-painted by master artists, you should expect slight variations in the depth and shade of the blue cobalt pigment. These subtle differences are a hallmark of authentic craftsmanship and ensure that every Gaiwan is one-of-a-kind.

This Gaiwan is fully functional and designed for daily use by tea practitioners. The porcelain is durable and heat-resistant, making it an excellent vessel for brewing Oolong, Pu-erh, and other complex teas.

We recommend hand-washing the Gaiwan with warm water and a soft sponge after each use. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive scrubbers to preserve the integrity of the hand-painted cobalt glaze and the delicate Flint-Red finish.
