While the lantern is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the materials—specifically the vegetable-tanned leather and brass—will age and develop a patina when exposed to the elements. To maintain its original finish, we recommend bringing it indoors during inclement weather or when not in use.

The glass insert is removable, making it easy to clean with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. Ensure the glass is completely dry before placing it back into the steel frame to prevent water spots.

The lantern weighs 1.2 kg, which provides a solid, stable base for tabletop use. However, because it is not weighted at the bottom, it is best suited for sheltered outdoor areas rather than exposed, high-wind locations.

Yes, the design is intentionally versatile. You can remove the glass insert to use the powder-coated steel base as a decorative bowl or a vessel for a potted plant. Just be mindful that the base is not watertight, so use a liner if you are planting directly into it.

The Emma Lantern is designed to accommodate standard pillar candles or tea lights. Because the glass is hand-blown, we recommend using a candle that fits comfortably within the 6-inch diameter to ensure proper airflow and prevent the glass from overheating.
