Tōsen Kiln Kyusu Teapot

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese pottery method where different colored clays—in this case, white, black, and ivory—are kneaded and layered together. This creates unique, intricate patterns that run through the entire body of the clay rather than just being painted on the surface.

The ceramic sasame filter is integrated directly into the teapot's body, which allows for a more natural, seamless pour. Because it is made of the same material as the pot, it won't impart any metallic taste to your tea and is specifically designed to prevent clogging even with fine-leaf teas.

This teapot is designed primarily for a single serving. While it can accommodate two very small traditional tea cups, it is best suited for an individual ritual or a focused session with a single cup.

Tokoname-yaki teapots are often prized for their porous nature, which can subtly mellow the tannins in tea over time. If you plan to use this for various types of tea, be aware that the clay may absorb some of the aromatic oils from previous brews.

Rinse the teapot with warm water after each use and allow it to air dry completely with the lid off. Avoid using soap or detergents, as the porous ceramic can absorb these scents and affect the flavor of your future brews.
