Opening the pot is a traditional preparation process that involves boiling the teapot in water, often with a small amount of the tea you intend to brew. This removes any residual firing dust from the kiln and helps season the porous clay, allowing it to better absorb and enhance the flavors of your tea over time.

While this lao zini clay is versatile and performs well with most varieties, it is particularly well-suited for oolong, black, and aged puer teas. The porous nature of the clay retains heat effectively and helps soften the profile of these more robust tea types.

Each teapot from the Lin Hanpeng and Chen Chunhong Studio features a distinct artist stamp, which serves as a mark of its origin and craftsmanship. These stamps are the standard way to verify that the piece was produced by the specified studio using authentic Huanglongshan clay.

Simply rinse the teapot with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry completely with the lid off. Avoid using dish soap or harsh detergents, as the porous clay will absorb these chemicals and negatively affect the flavor of future brews.
