No, it is not recommended to use beeswax wraps for raw meat or fish. Because they must be washed in cold water, they cannot be sanitized to the high temperatures required to safely clean surfaces that have touched raw proteins.

With proper care—washing only in cold water with mild soap—you can expect these wraps to last at least one year. Over time, the wax may naturally wear down, at which point they can be composted.

The wraps have a very subtle scent of beeswax and resin, but this does not transfer to your food. Because the material is breathable, it helps maintain the natural moisture and flavor of your produce better than airtight plastic.

Once the wraps lose their stickiness and can no longer hold a shape, they are fully compostable. You can also repurpose them as natural fire starters for your fireplace or as garden ties for your plants.

Avoid using these wraps with hot foods, as heat will melt the wax coating and ruin the wrap. Additionally, keep them away from acidic foods like pineapple or citrus, which can break down the wax over time.
