Each wood offers distinct aesthetic and aging characteristics. Cherry starts as a light pinkish-brown and deepens to a rich, reddish-brown over time; maple is a dense, light-colored wood with a uniform grain; and walnut is prized for its deep, chocolate-brown tones and striking grain patterns.

The high footboard (31 inches) provides a more traditional, enclosed look that acts as a focal point, while the low footboard (18 inches) creates a more open, modern feel and is often better suited for smaller bedrooms or those who prefer easier access to the bed from the foot.

The Essex Bed Frame is designed to support a mattress directly on its platform system, so a box spring is generally not required. However, if you prefer the added height a box spring provides, you can certainly use one.

The bed offers 12.5 inches of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the side rails, providing ample room for under-bed storage bins or organizers.

The bed utilizes traditional joinery techniques combined with modern hardware, making it straightforward to assemble. You will need basic tools and a second person to help position the headboard and footboard during setup.
