The Kodama Zome requires a sturdy, overhead structural point capable of supporting the weight of the frame and its occupants. This could be a heavy-duty tree branch, a dedicated steel frame, or a reinforced ceiling beam.

Because the zome utilizes a 360-degree pendulum motion, you should allow for at least three to four feet of clearance on all sides. This ensures the unit can swing freely without hitting nearby walls, railings, or landscaping.

Yes, the frame is constructed from powder-coated steel and marine-grade stainless steel hardware, which are designed to withstand outdoor elements. However, we recommend using a cover during extreme weather or winter months to maintain the finish and longevity of the materials.

The optional cushions are upholstered in Sunbrella fabric, which is highly resistant to moisture, mold, and fading. While they are designed for outdoor use, storing them indoors or using a protective cover during heavy rain will help keep them clean and extend their lifespan.

While the zome can be assembled by a capable DIYer, we recommend having at least two people assist with the setup due to the size and weight of the steel frame components. Clear instructions are provided, but the process is best approached as a team effort.

The zome is engineered for equilibrium, but because it is a hanging structure, it will naturally move when you enter or exit. Once you are seated or lying down, the weight distribution stabilizes the unit, providing a secure and balanced experience.
