Red Cedar is known for its distinct aroma and natural rot resistance, Rustic Pine offers a classic, knotty character, and Aspen provides a lighter, more uniform grain. All three are solid woods that offer excellent durability when paired with the shelf's mortise and tenon construction.

Choose the unfinished option if you plan to stain or paint the shelf yourself to match existing decor. The clear coat varnish is recommended if you prefer a ready-to-use finish that protects the wood from moisture and daily wear while highlighting its natural texture.

Because this shelf is built with traditional mortise and tenon joinery, it is exceptionally sturdy. However, the weight capacity ultimately depends on the wall material and the type of hardware used for installation, so ensure you anchor it securely into wall studs.

The pegs are integrated into the design for structural integrity and are not adjustable. They are permanently fixed to the slab to ensure they remain stable while holding items like coats, bags, or kitchen tools.
