Christopher Collection Louis XVI Reclining Chair

Unlike modern electric or lever-operated recliners, this chair uses a manual, hand-forged iron mechanism original to the 18th century. It offers a subtle, fixed-position recline that provides a gentle tilt rather than a full-extension lounge experience.

The chair is upholstered in James Dunlop Fleece Snow, a 100% polyester fabric. This material is chosen for its durability and resistance to pilling, making it much more practical for daily use than traditional antique textiles.

The seat height is 18.75 inches, which is a standard height for dining or occasional chairs. While it provides excellent support for most adults, those with longer legs may find the 19.75-inch seat depth slightly compact for extended lounging.

The brass nailhead trim was added during the recent professional reupholstery to complement the neoclassical aesthetic. It secures the new boucle fabric while honoring the traditional craftsmanship of the Louis XVI period.

The frame is finished in natural wood and should be treated like any fine antique furniture. We recommend dusting with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or direct sunlight to preserve the integrity of the oak.

With a width of 22.25 inches and a depth of 22 inches, this chair has a relatively small footprint. Its upright, neoclassical profile makes it an ideal choice for tighter spaces like a library or a dedicated reading corner.
