Ajuga Princess Nadia

Unlike more aggressive Ajuga varieties that can quickly take over a garden bed, Princess Nadia is prized for its controlled, cushion-like habit. It maintains a dense, compact form that stays within its 10-inch mature width, making it much easier to manage in borders and containers.

Princess Nadia is hardy in zones 4 through 9. Because it is a perennial with evergreen foliage, it provides year-round color and texture even in colder climates, provided it is planted in well-drained soil.

This Ajuga performs well in both full sun and partial shade. While it is adaptable, providing some partial shade during the hottest part of the day can help protect the delicate cream and green variegation from scorching in warmer regions.

This plant has moderate water requirements. Once established, it prefers consistently moist but well-drained soil; avoid letting the soil become waterlogged, as this can lead to root issues.

Princess Nadia produces spikes of royal blue flowers in late spring and again in late summer. The combination of these blooms against the variegated foliage provides two distinct periods of visual interest throughout the growing season.
