The Alocasia Melo is considered a moderate-care plant. Like other Alocasias, it requires consistent bright, indirect light and a careful watering routine to prevent root rot, but its thick, textured leaves are generally quite resilient once acclimated to your home.

It is best to let the plant rest for at least two weeks after arrival to allow it to adjust to your home's environment. Repotting immediately can cause unnecessary stress to an already transitioning plant.

Bright indirect light means placing the plant near a window where it receives plenty of natural light, but without the sun's rays directly hitting the leaves, which can cause scorching. A spot near an east-facing window or a few feet back from a south-facing window is usually ideal.

Check the soil moisture by inserting your finger about an inch or two into the potting mix. If it feels dry to the touch, it is time to water; if it still feels damp, wait a few more days to avoid overwatering.

Alocasia Melo prefers to stay within the 65-85°F range. If your home drops significantly below 65°F, the plant may go into a dormant state or show signs of stress, so it is best to keep it in a consistently warm area of your home.
