ARRIS Surfboard Thruster Gaming Acceleration Kit

This kit acts as a high-speed wireless bridge, essentially replacing a long Ethernet cable. It is designed to connect a single wired device, like a gaming console or desktop, to your network without the need for running physical cables across your home.

The Thruster kit creates its own dedicated 6GHz connection between the two units. It does not replace your existing router but rather extends a high-speed, low-latency link to a specific device that requires a stable, wired-like connection.

The 6GHz band is part of the Wi-Fi 6E standard and is significantly less crowded than the older 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. By using this dedicated frequency, the Thruster minimizes interference from other household devices, resulting in the low latency and high speeds required for competitive gaming.

Not at all. The units come pre-synced out of the box, making the setup essentially plug-and-play. You can use the SURFboard Central App to manage the connection, but the physical installation is straightforward.

Each Thruster unit features a single 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, meaning it is designed to support one wired device at a time. If you need to connect multiple devices, you would need to plug a network switch into the Thruster's Ethernet port.

The Thruster kit optimizes the connection between your router and your device, but it cannot increase the speed provided by your ISP. Its main benefit is maintaining that speed with minimal latency and packet loss, which is crucial for gaming and streaming.
