Because the porous clay absorbs flavors, it is best to dedicate this teapot to one specific type of tea, such as oolong or pu-erh. Using it for vastly different teas may cause lingering flavors to interfere with your brew.

Never use soap or detergents, as the clay will absorb the chemicals. Simply rinse the teapot with hot water after each use and allow it to air dry thoroughly with the lid off.
