Egyptian cotton is known for its extra-long fibers, which create a stronger, softer yarn that resists pilling over time. When woven in a sateen pattern, the fabric has a subtle sheen and a drape that feels more luxurious and fluid than a standard percale or plain weave.

The satin stitch is primarily a design element that adds a refined, tailored look to the border of the flat sheet. While it is decorative, it is securely finished to maintain the integrity of the hem, ensuring it holds up well through regular laundering.

To preserve the softness and the integrity of the satin stitch, machine wash in cool water on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Avoid bleach, and tumble dry on low heat, removing the sheets promptly to minimize wrinkling.

Like most high-quality cotton sateen, these sheets will naturally develop some wrinkles after washing. However, the sateen weave is generally smoother than crisp percale, and the fabric will soften and relax further with each wash.
