Bru Stop is a patented plate at the bottom of the plunger assembly that creates a physical barrier between the coffee grounds and the brewed coffee once pressed. By halting the extraction process, it prevents your coffee from becoming over-extracted, bitter, or astringent if you leave it in the press for a while.

The BaseCamp features a threaded lid with a secure latch designed to prevent spills during transport. While it is highly secure for outdoor use and camping, it is still a French press, so we recommend keeping it upright rather than tossing it loosely into a bag.

The press assembly is designed to disassemble completely, which makes cleaning straightforward. You can easily unscrew the components to rinse the fine mesh screen and the Bru Stop plate, ensuring no old grounds get trapped.

Because the double-wall vacuum insulation is so effective at retaining heat, you may find that your coffee stays hot for much longer than in a glass press. If you prefer to drink your coffee at a specific temperature, you might want to pour it into a mug shortly after brewing rather than letting it sit in the press for hours.
