Okatsune Pruning Shears

These shears have a cutting capacity of up to 1 inch. They are best suited for pruning stems and branches within this range to maintain the integrity of the blades.

Bypass pruners work like scissors, with two blades sliding past each other to create a clean, precise cut. This makes them ideal for live, green growth, whereas anvil pruners are typically better suited for dead or woody stems.

The blades are forged from high-carbon Izumo Yasuki steel with a hardness of HRC 61, which holds an edge exceptionally well. While they are very durable, you should sharpen them periodically with a whetstone to maintain their signature smooth cutting performance.

With an overall length of 8.27 inches and a handle length of 4.25 inches, these are standard-sized shears. The ergonomic vinyl grip provides a secure hold, though those with very small hands may find the grip span slightly wide during extended use.

Because these blades are made from high-carbon steel, they are susceptible to rust if left wet. After each use, wipe the blades clean, dry them thoroughly, and apply a light coat of camellia oil or a similar rust-preventative lubricant before storing.
