No, the Equals 48 features hot-swap sockets, meaning you can simply push your preferred MX-style switches into the PCB. This allows you to customize your switch feel or replace them later without ever needing a soldering iron.

Because the Equals 48 uses a 4x12 ortholinear grid, you will need keycap sets that include specific 1u key sizes for every position. Standard staggered keycap sets may not have enough 1u keys to cover the entire board.

The keyboard is fully compatible with QMK and VIA firmware. You can easily remap keys, create custom layers, and adjust the RGB lighting settings through the VIA web interface or by flashing custom firmware via QMK.

The OLED screen can be configured to display information like your current layer, typing speed, or custom animations. The optional piezo buzzer provides tactile audio feedback, which can be programmed to beep when you switch layers or press specific keys.
