Hand-forging creates a denser, stronger metal structure compared to stamped steel. This process results in a tool that is significantly more resistant to bending or snapping when working in heavy or compacted soil.

While the ash handle is durable, it is a natural material that performs best when kept dry. We recommend storing the fork in a shed or garage to prevent the wood from weathering or cracking over time.

The 4cm spacing is specifically engineered to balance soil aeration with structural integrity. It is wide enough to break up heavy clay clods effectively, yet narrow enough to provide the leverage needed to lift dense earth without the soil slipping through.

At 2kg, this fork is weighted for stability and impact. The balance between the stainless steel head and the ash handle helps the tool do the work for you, though it is heavier than lightweight aluminum tools designed for light weeding.

Stainless steel is highly resistant to corrosion, but it is not entirely immune to surface oxidation if left wet. Simply wipe the tines clean after use and occasionally rub the wood handle with linseed oil to keep the tool in peak condition.
