You can do both. The SolarPanel 5+ allows you to charge devices directly from the 5W USB output while the sun is shining, or you can use the integrated 3,200mAh battery to store power and charge your devices later when the sun goes down.

The panel features an integrated 'Optimal Sun System' that includes a built-in sundial. By aligning the shadow within the sundial, you ensure the panel is perfectly angled toward the sun for maximum efficiency.

It is rated IPX4, which means it is weather-resistant and can handle splashes or light rain. However, it is not fully waterproof or submersible, so you should avoid leaving it out during heavy downpours or storms.

While it is compatible with both, the 5W output is relatively modest. It will charge a smartphone efficiently, but a tablet will charge much slower and may require more consistent, direct sunlight to see significant progress.

The unit features corner latches specifically designed for this purpose. You can use carabiners or cordage to secure the panel to the outside of your pack, allowing it to collect energy while you are on the move.

The kickstand allows you to prop the panel up on uneven terrain or adjust its angle precisely to follow the sun's path throughout the day. This flexibility is key to maintaining optimal charging speeds without needing a flat surface.
