Yes, the Outpost Cargo Cage is designed to mount to triple-boss mounts, which are the three-bolt patterns found on many modern bikepacking forks and frames. It will not fit standard two-bolt bottle cage mounts.

While you can technically strap a large bottle to it, this cage is specifically engineered for bulky, irregular items like sleeping pads, dry bags, or tents. For standard water bottles, a dedicated bottle cage will provide a much more secure and accessible fit.

The included rubberized compression straps are quite grippy and effective for keeping gear from shifting on gravel or fire roads. However, for extremely technical singletrack or very heavy loads, you may want to double-check the tension periodically.

It depends on your fork's design. You need a fork with specific mounting bosses on the legs. If your suspension fork lacks these mounts, you cannot safely attach the cage directly to the fork legs.

Blackburn recommends keeping the load under 4 kilograms (about 8.8 pounds). Exceeding this weight can put unnecessary stress on your frame or fork mounts, especially when riding over rough terrain.
